There are three main methods of recruitment available – newspapers, agencies and online.

Newspaper advertising has fallen dramatically in the last few years but despite this it still remains quite an expensive option, especially when you consider that the exposure for a newspaper advert is minimal – most people will look at it once or twice on the day it is published before it’s consigned to the bin. Also, newspapers aren’t targeted to a specific group so there’s a strong likelihood of your advert attracting a wide range of applicants, many of whom aren’t suitable (or even graduates). The benefit of a recruitment website is that you can choose one that is targeted towards a particular group or industry, like us!

Agencies are at the highest end of the recruitment market. On average, agencies will charge around 10-15% of a starting salary, even higher in specialist sectors. That’s around £2,500 to pay for one employee with a starting salary of £20K.

What you spend should depend on who you are and what you want to achieve. A smaller company looking to recruit one or two graduates a year may find that an enhanced job advert and a CV Search or CV Match will be sufficient to attract a good number of high-calibre candidates.

A larger organisation looking to recruit in volume may wish to use a targeted campaign to build brand presence and awareness, such as their own microsite and targeted e-shots. A range of options to achieve this can be provided in a bespoke package. Please contact one of our account managers on 0800 077 8377 if you would like to discuss this.
