Graduate Trainee Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities

First Year:

  • Principally preparing accounts for Smaller Limited Companies, Sole Traders and Partnerships.
  • Use of various accountancy packages including cloud based software.
  • Basic tax and VAT work for both individuals and companies.

Second Year:

  • Work will evolve to engagement with Corporate Businesses, using the experience and knowledge gained in year one, and applying the same principles to larger ‘jobs’.
  • Preparation of Management Accounts
  • Experiencing working in a Audit environment.

  • Supportive mentoring from an experienced member of staff, to enable the successful candidate to fully understand Accounting processes and what is involved in the preparation of accounts/financial statements.

  • Support with study, as the post holder trains to become a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Skills & Experience

  • A degree in Accountancy (preferably), or in a related subject; Maths, Economics, Business.
  • A strong desire to study further to become a qualified Accountant
  • Evidence of team working, along with the ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work methodically in a logical manner
  • Possess good attention to detail
  • Ability to priorities workloads and work to deadlines set
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build successful relationships with clients
  • A high level of analytical and numerical problem solving skills
  • Competent in the use of Excel and basic IT software packages
