Working in the Financial Services...

Graduates Yorkshire and Leeds Met are delighted to once again hold our very own Question Time.  The event will be held at Leeds Met on Tuesday February 8th from 5.30pm-7pm in G08 Old School Board .

Although we do not have the pleasure of David Dimbleby attending, we do have someone as equally talented taking the hot seat...our CEO, Martin Edmondson.
Alongside him there will be a panel of regional and local employers who you can pose your questions to.

The topic of the afternoon is ‘Working in the Financial Services'  This is a great opportunity to find out from the experts the issues facing finance applicants and how you can maximise your chances!

One student's quest for a grad job!

Created 11/01/2011 21:59 Last updated 12/12/2013 14:42

Martin Bailey tells us about his quest for a graduate job....

There is one thing that I wish I had done a while ago, that would save some of the stress about looking for a graduate job. You probably think I'm going to say, secure that first from the beginning of second year, or get better A-level results,  so I wouldn't eye up every job thinking, what if I don't get that 2.1 they want? In actual fact it's, I wish I had learned how to drive!

The amount of big companies that want you to be able to drive astounds me, it's as if they haven't heard of trains, or have no room for trains in their travel budget (which were they to take me on as a finance graduate, I would make that my first project!)

My Big Job Hunt

Created 16/12/2010 16:09 Last updated 12/12/2013 14:42

I graduated class of 2009. I worked throughout Uni and as soon as I'd finished I went full time with the company I was already with, I didn't want to stay long term but I figured it was a stopgap until I could find something else. The major problem I found myself with was that I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do. One of the reasons I went to Uni was to have some extra time to figure that out, sadly the three years didn't help with an answer. In the end I set about applying for jobs I thought I'd enjoy.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a bit of mulled wine or Mince Pies so why not try your hand at making one of these Yuletide classics:
