We've had some great entries so far to our refer a friend competition and wanted to share this top entry from Matthew Heald with you. He's not just told us and his friends about how great we are - he's come up with this handy button so other people can show their support too!
Add it to your homepage or your blog or even change your profile picture for a day. Here's a nifty bit of code our IT guys magically conjured up for us to help you do just that.(Comments 0)

We're always telling you to give volunteering a go and here's a handy website to help you do just that (and boosts your skills and CV too!).
Here you will find out more about volunteering generally and who to contact in your area. There are 26 local volunteer centres in Yorkshire and the Humber that can tell you what is available near you and how to get involved. Volunteering opportunities can range from working directly with clients - young people, older people, unemployed or disadvantaged groups; to helping a local group using your skills - perhaps around IT, legal advice, bookkeeping, or fundraising.(Comments 0)

So picture the scene. Three finalists walk past our stand at a careers fair looking at our giant 6m long bright green stand (or "the monster" as it's known in GY towers) with a quizzical look on their faces. I draw them in with a dazzling smile and tell them who we are and what we do, at which point student #1 pipes up "yeah I'm registered with you guys, your ace." Whilst students 2 & 3 go "Who?" "What?" "Never heard of you."
If only the student in-the-know had spread the love then my job as Marketing Officer would be done. So we're asking for your help in promoting Graduates Yorkshire to friends and family in return for some good old fashioned bribery!
Recommend a friend to the Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme and if they go on to be placed in an internship we'll give you £50 in vouchers of your choice. We're also giving away two top prizes of £50 vouchers each for the two graduates who go that extra mile in promoting our services.(Comments 0)

We're mega busy with plans for our secret internships event in March (more info to follow...) and shortlisting for our very own Intern who we will be interviewing this coming Friday. With so much to do we're not the kind of folks to let 3 inches of snow stop us! Here's the view from our office window. With such a dedicated team helping you find that perfect graduate job you know you're in good hands! (Comments 0)

There has been a blog here on the website for a couple of months now, and I am yet to contribute, so I thought I would make it a new years resolution to offer some thoughts. I think the best way to start this post is to wish all of you a Happy New Year from myself and all of the team at Graduates Yorkshire and GradsEast. I'd personally like to thank every single graduate who has visited the site, and every employer who has posted a vacancy in 2009.
2009 was a very exciting year for all of us here. In only our second full year of trading as a social enterprise we have made some major headway by running projects like the Yorkshire Graduate Internship programme, and being successful in winning the contract to run our sister service in the East of England, GradsEast. With all of that and much more going on, it's going to be tough to beat that in 2010.(Comments 0)

When Joe Winson graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a degree in Public Relations, he found the job market for graduates extremely competitive.
Joe says: "After finishing my degree, I like many others were left in a bit of a quandary as to what to do next. When I finished my degree I still felt a bit wet behind the ears in terms of experience and whatever talents I had were very raw and probably needed to be tested in a work environment."
After hearing about the Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme, Joe applied for the Public Relations Officer position at Digital Entrepreneurs, part of Sheffield Independent Film.(Comments 0)

If you're a graduate looking for your first job or employed and looking to take that next step, the New Years a great time to take a look at where you are, where you want to go and how to get there.
Luckily we have a great free resource for doing just this. Jobshopping is a 10 step process to help you sit back and think about what you can do to get where you want to be. These downloadable pdfs help you think about different ways to approach your job hunt, help you realise the skills and potential you have and how to go about using these to get what you want.(Comments 0)
