This sector compromises a number of areas including:
- The repair, development and maintenance of infrastructure such as roads, bridges and ports.

- Construction and management of public sector buildings like schools and hospitals
- Industrial and commercial construction (the building, development and maintenance of factories and public areas like shopping centres and stadiums)
Working in a role in this area you can expect to be working as part of a team with other industry professionals to get a project off the ground, a development finished or a property sold. That means you need to be a great team player with excellent communication skills as well as having a keen interest in the industry and plenty of confidence and enthusiasm.
In Yorkshire the construction and property industry is set to grow by 6% over the next 5 years with over 6,000 new jobs created every year. About a third of these are expected to be at a graduate level in roles such as Architecture, Surveying and Engineering as well as jobs being created in Property for Estate Agents and Auctioneers.
