Check, Check and Check again!

Here's a quick bit of advice that every graduate can take on board - do not underestimate the importance of spelling and grammar!

One thing we hear on a daily basis from employers is that some candidates just don't take enough care when applying for vacancies and often make silly mistakes. It can really give employers a bad impression and it's so easy to avoid. Next time you make an application, remember this small bit of advice, it could really make a big difference.

Get a great CV

It's that time of year again as thousands of finalists prepare to take their exams and leave full time education for good!

So what's the first and most important thing any job seekers needs?

"Your website!" we hear you cry. (Modesty's not our best quality.) And Yes it's a good start, but what you really need is a decent CV.

I'm sure you're fed up about us banging on about our big awards ceremony last week (it really was that good!) But we just wanted to congratulate one of our very own interns who not only won the award for his region but also bagged the title of Best Yorkshire Intern 2010!

Joe Winson has spent the last few months with Digital Entrepreneurs in Sheffield, who nominated him for the amazing work and the commitment he has shown the project during his time there.

Even more Internships

Created 03/03/2010 12:58 Last updated 12/12/2013 14:42
Some more great news just in - we'll be helping even more of you talented grads get great jobs in Yorkshire!

We've received some extra funding to continue placing graduates within businesses in our region for the next 2 years.

Our Internship Programme is the best way to get a foot in the door to a great career in Yorkshire. Unlike traditional graduate schemes, we don't care about how many UCAS points you've got or whether you've gained a 2.1 or above.

Instead we assess all candidates as individuals, feedback throughout the process on areas in which you could improve and take the best candidates through our Development Centre days and on to be placed with great regional companies.

You can find out more and how to apply for the programme here.

If you've joined a Yorkshire based company on an Internship in the last 12 months there is still time to nominate them for a Yorkshire Internship Award.

These awards are a chance to say a big thank you to an organisation that has provided you with an opportunity to gain hands on experience and learn new skills.

You can find out more about the event and download a nomination form here: www.graduatesyorkshire.co.uk/awards
